The Lament of the Heartless by HFFK
Could You Not
Mayakovsky
Could You Not 1913
I splashed some colors from a glass
And smeared drab world with emotions,
I charted on a dish of jelly
The jutting cheekbones of the ocean.
Upon the scales of a tin of salmon,
I read the calls of lips yet mute.
And you.
Could you not play a nocturne
With just a drainpipe for a flute?
Sayonara 2011
Not quite sure why saying “Goodby” to 2011 congers up slight feeling of grief. I learned a lot about myself and other people. Some things I’d rather not have to but couldn’t go forward, without knowing. I met so many people. Left one job I’d had for 11 years and started two new ones. Still trying to remember everyone’s names. All I do know is that whether I like you or not, the truth is that I love you and I can honestly say that it’s been funny and I’m grateful. Here’s to making the best of it. I’ll try not to fuck up the next one.
It’s a beautiful grey and foggy morning. Thousands of crows circle as I drive. Have they come to take my soul away? I hope they take it all and not leave with just pieces of my body.-Cassandra

This reminds me of Sunday. A huge buck came running down Steven’s Ave against traffic at around noon. His eyes were glazed over and his tongue slightly hung over the edge of his mouth. Luckily I was one of a few cars in his path. He looked exhausted. I pulled over to decide what to do. I think he took off in between some houses because by the time I turned my head to see where he was headed he was gone. I hope he found his way.-Cassandra
